Home Sweet Sweet Home

I can tell the future.
2 weeks from now, at this time, I will be at Street 52 unloading my luggage with help from my dear friend Kenneth.

Daddy Hock Soon awaiting eagerly for me to come home, and WALA! The door opens... and there he is with newly grown greys and perhaps a couple of pounds piled on?

After hugs and kisses, my attention move towards the new tivo and bose system he bought and I secretly scan the room quickly for other new undeclared purchases! :D A short interrogation session about additions to the house takes place.

Dad then tries to end the interrogation abruptly by telling me all about my 3 darling nephews and how cute they are when he was talking on the phone with them earlier in the evening. ;)

After that, it is supper at Jalan Kayu, slurping up yummy curry with crispy prata, at a steal too (sorry, still comparing with Ozzie prata prices!)... Oh, not forgetting the frothy teh tarik conjured up by the man wrapped in checked-bedsheet looking things (stereotyping here!).

Sweet!

Kangaroo Land

An outdated post but what the ****!
When Kenneth visited Brisbane, I went along for the touristy thing and visited Lone Pine Sanctuary. It was an animal place, filled with koalas, birds and kangaroos!
I love our pose at the signage... quite a contained pose but good enough :)

And I love the way the kangaroos came up to us. It felt like the ones here were trained to come near human beings, unlike some others I saw before.

The ones here are photo sluts (a term coined by facebookless!) and were hogging the cameras. They look like they don't give a damn but secretly striking a cool pose. Check out the one on the bottom right!

As calm as I looked too, I was actually wary of them farting into my face!

More on Sydney... despite feeling a little hot and bothered by the burning Sydney sun and not-as-friendly locals, I squeezed in a couple of touristy attractions.

The Harbour Bridge left quite an impression and I liked it that I could see both the Bridge and the Sydney Opera House just by standing at The Rocks, an area where weekend markets are aplenty. I haven't tried walking on the Harbour Bridge, but would probably try that on a second trip with friends. And neither did I sign up for an inside tour of the Sydney Opera House coz it costs AUD32!

In the centre of the strip photo is Darling Harbour. Another kerfuffle of cafes, eating joints, and people just looking out at the waters. Think Vivo City...

I had wanted to catch the fireworks at Darling Harbour by booking a place for dinner for NYE, BUT the menu prices put me off. It would cost AUD189 for a 4-course dinner!
I opted for cost free venues instead.

Remember I said Sydney reminded me of Chinatown in KL etc...? This is why... This is part of Sydney's Chinatown.
