I went to...

Yoohoo! I am here at the Most Easterly Point of the Australian Mainland, Byron Bay.
This road trip is a first for me - we went to Gold Coast for my favourite Japanese dinner, then hit the casino till 3.45am before we set off for Byron Bay.
The time is 5.45am, New South Wales time (& 4.45am, Queensland time). It was fairly dark when we got here and virtually impossible to walk around properly... Thank goodness we had torchlights with us. I was freezing too, it felt like 10 degrees or so!

People say a trip to Australia can only be complete with a trip to the Byron Bay lighthouse, and catching the sunrise from the same spot. I think this is the nearest I ever got to a lighthouse and it was quite a sight being the only thing that was lit in the dark.

Initially, there was just a handful of people parked at various spots when we got there. Then suddenly, more and more people came jogging up the hill. It apparently is a very popular spot for joggers and exercise... If I were to live around here, I would come up here too (every morning?) to breathe in the fresh air and take in the view of the neverending skyline.

BUT, despite slogging to get here the entire night, we didn't quite get to see the sunrise. It was far too cloudy... and the sun just came up and the sky suddenly brightened up. Though a wee bit disappointing, tt was still great just to gaze out at the open sea, this somewhat reminded me of the Twelve Apostles at Great Ocean Road.

And that's me over here in the red jacket, caught in an unglam moment! I was having a snack of crackers and dip coz I was starving!

Another first for me coz I have never snacked at 6am in the morning, and looking out at the open sea! :D
